Key Components of the Better Health Care for Colorado Plan

The nurses and working families of SEIU, CAPE and the SEIU Nurse Alliance of Colorado believe that it's time for Colorado to demonstrate real leadership on the biggest economic and social issue facing working families and businesses alike. That's why we've laid out key reform principles and a specific proposal to improve health care for all Colorado residents.

The following points serve as the building blocks of the Better Health Care for Colorado proposal. The proposal will:

  • Provide a path toward affordable health care coverage for all Coloradans.
  • Preserve the dignity and independence of elderly residents by providing greater access to less restrictive and more cost efficient long term care.
  • Help Colorado’s small businesses purchase quality, affordable health plans for their employees.
  • Result in greater health care choices and cost savings for working families through the creation of an insurance exchange.
  • Ensure quality care and promote accountability in Colorado’s health care facilities to protect patients.
  • Create incentives for preventive care, wellness, health education, quality outcomes and consumer empowerment.
  • Adopt a cost containment approach to ensure the delivery of quality care into the distant future.
